Geneva and Vicinity

Our final stop in Europe was to stay for a week in Geneva with our friend Peggy and her kids, Jessie and Jerry. They moved from NYC to Geneva within the past year so it was our first time seeing their new house and lifestyle. Geneva is a cute little town on the edge of the Franco-Swiss border (drive 30 minutes north or south and you're in France). It's the perfect jumping off spot to explore the region and explore we did. One day we visited Annecy, France, a charming little lakefront town straight out of a fairytale. We walked around, had some lunch and gelato, shopped at the cute little boutiques, then rented a boat and tooled around the lake for awhile. Europe is rife with fairytale-esque towns, it would seem. We spent one of our days visiting a medieval town and a winery at a chateau a few hours north in France. Our final weekend was spent in Chamonix overlooking Mont Blanc, a gorgeous mountain town in the alps less than an hour from Geneva. It was such a pretty area I could have spent four more weeks exploring. But alas, we did eventually have to come home... Can't say I don't miss Europe though.
