So long, Split! 👋🏻 Next stop ➡️ Lisbon ✈️ • This month went by in a Split second! 😱😉 I’ve had such an incredible experience already with @remoteyear and it’s only the first month! It might have seemed reckless at first to pack up my things and go travel, but it’s honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I’m happier than I’ve been in a long time. On one hand, it’s been flying by, but at the same time so much has happened over the course of the past few weeks that it’s felt like time is warped. Chasing summer ☀️ • One of the hardest challenges for this trip was choosing what clothes to pack for six straight months of travel. It’s a balance of comfort, practicality, durability, and most importantly, of style. I’ve never been willing to compromise when it comes to any of these things, so I parsed down my wardrobe and purchased a few more key pieces to achieve a suitcase full of the most versatile pieces I could find. This includes a few simple midi dresses and skirts, an array of tops that can be worn in different ways, and a myriad of accessories like scarves and hats that help change it up every outfit. Luckily, I’m chasing summer for the next six months and didn’t have to worry about cold weather. It was a little easier to pack for hot temps with lightweight and beachy clothes, which is the majority of my closet as is. I did bring a couple of “casual” items like a plain white T-shirt and leggings for the plane, but even these can be mixed up and worn with other items (like a silk scarf or a flowy skirt) to look more exciting. I’m also cheating a little bit—I’ve already told everyone that comes to visit me that they have to help me swap items when they come. For example, my mom is coming to visit soon and she will bring me a few pieces from back home and take some back that are currently in my suitcase. It’s a bit of a refresh every month or so and much needed as I’m already beginning to get bored with the clothes I have with me. Admittedly, I need to reset my consumerist mindset a little to stop constantly seeking new trends and focus more on making the pieces I do own work in new ways. 👗 • Important to note that almost all of what I packed is sustainably produced. Early bird gets the main streets of the city all to herself 🤗🕊 • Even though I was exhausted, I’m so happy I woke up for sunrise at the Helsinki Cathedral. The streets were nearly empty and it was so quiet to wander around exploring and taking photos and videos. It was a long but wonderful weekend with @feelfinnair! I’m so glad that my flights were so comfortable, with great amenities and good food, lounge access at the airports, and exceptional service from all the crew. It made my travel seamless so I could just enjoy my time in Helsinki without stressing about flight details. Dubrovnik views 😍🙌🏻 • Hiking around the Balkans in heels, don’t mind me. I honestly didn’t even bother packing practical footwear. 🤷🏼‍♀️👡 These heels are crazy comfy though and match just about everything, so I brought them on my trip in two colors—white and gold. 🙌🏻 And another thing I love more than my favorite sandals of the summer? Dubrovnik! It was my favorite spot in Croatia when we road tripped here last summer and remains one of my favorite after staying there again this weekend. It’s such a cute and historical city right along the most gorgeous blue water of the sea, which makes a stunning backdrop. It’s become more popularized in recent years from Game of Thrones but has so much rich history and culture to offer beyond that! 🌊 P.S. Going with the flow 🎶 • From the moment I arrived, all of Helsinki was buzzing with excitement for the @flowfestivalhelsinki. In fact, when the customs officer at the airport was grilling me with questions, even he seemed to visibly relax when I told him I was in the city for the festival. “Oh!” he exclaimed in understanding, “Enjoy the festival!” My driver from the airport then excitedly showed me his wristband, announcing that he’d be attending all three days. It was the talk of the town and everyone I met seemed to be sporting their fabric wristbands in preparation. I hadn’t thought much of it beforehand since I didn’t know most of the bands on the lineup, but now I, too, was getting pumped to be a part of it. And it wound up being so much fun! The food was delicious and I was so happy to see the plethora of vegetarian and vegan options; there were great cocktails and drinks being served in reusable cups; and even the many Finnish bands and DJs I’d never heard of were so fun to bop around to! The @feelfinnair team made us feel like a part of their Finland crew. Then towards the end of the night, I got to see @tame_impala which was great! Plus, they had a really impressive sustainability initiative and it was by far one of the most responsible events of this caliber that I’d seen. 🙌🏻 I’m curious—have you ever been to a music festival?
