NYC: Market Table

Market Table

I recently went to this delightful restaurant in the West Village called Market Table for lunch. The atmosphere was bright and friendly, with floor to ceiling windows and exposed brick walls (a West Village rite of passage). I started with a Summer Vegetable Salad of mixed greens, romanesco, asparagus, and a citrus vinaigrette -- it was light and fresh flavored, the perfect starter. I then ordered the daily special of Chicken Enchilladas, a delicious soft flour taco around melt-in-your-mouth chicken, avocadoes, queso fresco, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and a lovely tang from a salsa verde. Just the right amount of spicy balanced with the coolness of the tomatoes and avocado and the tenderness of the chicken. It makes my mouth water writing about it now... The portions were satisfying and I left feeling pleased, not overstuffed. I would highly recommend this place for a comfortable lunch with friends.
