The Beauty Of: Red Lips

I'm not a particularly obsessive personality but one thing I cannot get enough of is red lipstick. I always have my Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red in my wallet, a great little go-to stick of glam. Red lips can be subtle, bold, sexy, sophisticated, and are always endlessly classic. However, I'm surprised by how few people I seem to see wearing the shade. The top difficulties with red are knowing which shade is best for you and picking a long-lasting option.

Skin Tone:

A basic rule is the darker your skin, the darker and deeper the shade of red, and the lighter your skin, the brighter the shade.

Pale Complexion: Cherry Red

Think Taylor-Swift-esque, pale blonde type, this is the shade of red I generally stick with. This will add a great pop

Medium/Olive Complexion: Orangey Red

Fire truck bright, this isn't the easiest shade to pull off so you may need to test some to find one that works well for you.

Dark Complexion: Maroon Red

Wonderful vampy-red, this sultry shade is sure to look great with a darker skin tone.

Types of Lip Coverage:

Lip Stain

My personal favorite, lip stain is the longest lasting option.

Some great brands to consider --> Sephora Cream Lip Stain OR Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

Lip Stick

The typical option, but choose wisely because some lipsticks can be overly cakey and you should also watch out for your teeth...

Some lipstick choices --> Dior Rouge Couture Colour Voluptuous Care Lipstick OR Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick

Lip Gloss

The sheerest of options, lip gloss adds an extra shine to the color, but be careful of icky stickiness.

Some great lip glosses --> NARS Lip Gloss OR Yves Saint Laurent Vernis À Lèvres Pop Water Glossy Stain
