Better With Bubbly: The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic NYC 2017

If I could imagine the ideal Saturday, chances are it would be sunny, mid-70s, surrounded by a crowd dressed to the nines, drinking champagne, and watching my favorite animals (horses) run up and down a field ridden by world renowned polo players like the infamous Nacho Figueras. In other words, it would be the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.

I decided to go with my friend Igee, one of the most charismatic people I know and a fellow fashion blogger. We splurged on the VIP Rosé Gardens tickets for the event so we got first choice to board the ferries in the morning at Battery Park. We then made our way across the Hudson River to Liberty State Park, where we had to walk another 15-20 minutes to the actual venue. My biggest advice if you're planning to go next year is to wear or bring a pair of comfortable shoes. Once we arrived, Igee and I claimed a table and chair spot right by the front of the field, we picked up our complimentary bottles of rosé champagne, then we went around taking tons of photos of the beautiful backdrops and the gorgeous decor. After awhile we began to run into people we knew, including Igee's friend Gwyneth and my friends Leckie (of West Village Wasp) and Adelaide, and the group of friends grew. We also met so many fun new people and we spent the rest of the day sipping champagne, laughing endlessly with everyone around us, wandering through the venue, and once or twice glancing over at the polo match. We saw tons of other bloggers and a few celebrities like Lucy Hale and Neil Patrick Harris. Most of the big celebrities in attendance were in the sectioned off invite-only area at the head of the field. We ended the day with an amazing performance by Alicia Keys with the whole crowd singing out "Empire State of Mind" in ecstatic unison.

Despite a one-shoulder sunburn, it was a really wonderful day and I cannot wait to attend next year. For anyone considering attending next year, here's a short packing list to keep in mind:
