Shades of Purple

I've never been overly into purple despite the fact that it is my school color and the color of my favorite flowers (wisteria), but the season there seems to be so many great shades of purple everywhere you look. I especially love the delicate lighter color of this ruffled skirt, but darker tones of eggplant and violet look stunning as well and pair so nicely with other traditionally springtime colors like pink and green. It was the ideal look for our final day in Charleston, which thankfully was finally warm! Through some overcast clouds, we wandered around exploring after brunch at Poogan's Porch, and did a little shopping and browsing in the local boutiques (for more of my Charleston suggestions, click here). Then our final evening my mom had gotten us all tickets to Charleston Fashion Week, which happened to be going on while we were there. The format is a little different than what I'm used to in New York and it is set up as a competition wherein over the course of four nights designers show their collections and a winner is chosen, so that on the last night the finalists show again and an ultimate winner is chosen. We went to the final night and got to see some really interesting collections, from a knitwear label to a rocker-chic collection covered in sequins that won the prize. It was such a fun end to a wonderful weekend and I was remiss to head back to the city. I hope to be back in Charleston sooner rather than later.

Thanks Ashley for the photos!
